Daily practice
Daily ear training, five minutes at a time

Why daily beats long
Hearing harmony is recognition, and recognition fades without use. Short sessions spread over days give the ear repeated contact with the same sounds, which is what makes them familiar. A long session once a week asks you to relearn half of last week first.
How Tonalia schedules review
Every skill you learn has a strength that fades over time. When it drops to half, the skill is due and comes back in a lesson as review. Pass the review and the time until it is due again doubles.

What a day looks like
A lesson is twelve questions and takes about five minutes: two warm ups from the skills before this one, seven on the skill you are learning with difficulty rising, two reviews from anything due, and one aimed at the kind of question you get wrong most. Your daily goal is one lesson, or two or three if you want more, and your streak counts the days you meet it.
XP is earned for a right answer the first time you see a question, so guessing never pays faster than listening. Hearts cost one for a wrong answer and refill on a clock.
Where to start
Section 1 is free forever: intervals, triads, diatonic chords, cadences and sevenths. If you already know them it goes quickly, and the habit is the point. Try three questions on the ear training app page.
Every chord on this page is spelled and voiced by Tonalia's music engine.
